History

Founded in 1995 by Scouters Rocky Tsang and Anne Tsui and sponsored by the Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham (FCCM), 8th Markham began as a small Scout group consisting of only a Beaver colony and a Cub pack as well as a handful of volunteers.

Within 3 years, the Troop section was formed and more dedicated volunteers and leaders have joined. Since then, we have only kept expanding — going on to even forming a Venture and Rover section. A feat only a few Scout groups have ever achieved.

Today we stand over 55 youths and 22 leaders strong. We consist of passionate individuals who have committed their lives to the Scouting Movement. Like a family, 8th Markham has stuck together through the toughest times and the lowest points. We take pride in our red and yellow neckerchief. It embodies our passion, commitment and dedication towards the Scouting Movement in which we wish to leave the world a little better than we found it. We are Scouts. We are the leaders of tomorrow. We are 8th Markham.
